GEMPAK STARZ COLLABZ ft. TAN ENG HUAT
A collection of six rare and valuable masterful illustrations by international comic artist Tan Eng Huat, featuring characters from the popular comics that graced the pages of Malaysia’s beloved ACG magazine – Gempak, which debuted in 1998 and has sold 1.5 million copies. The characters in the collection are from the comics Jinggo (created by Kenny Chua); Taufan Pesaka (created by Taufan); Detektif Hantu (created by Totoro); XC-Fighter (created by Zint); Enigma (created by Scarecrow); and Mat Gempak (created by Zuan). Each skilfully hand-painted Gempak cover in this collection is available as an exclusive and unique NFT. This collection is the product of a collaboration between Kadokawa Gempak Starz (KGS) and Mr. Tan, who was a local freelance comic artist prior to moving on to the international scene; these art pieces were created before he worked for DC Comics and Marvel Comics. Mr. Tan is also the first Malaysian to win the Russ Manning Promising Newcomer Award at the 2002 Eisners.
ABOUT JINGGO
Jinggo is a Kenny Chua creation. The comic made its first appearance in Gempak on September 1998. This composition of Jinggo on the front cover of Gempak, Malaysia’s beloved ACG magazine, is part of a rare and valuable collection of Gempak covers produced through a collaboration between Kadokawa Gempak Starz and international comic artist Tan Eng Huat. Originally hand painted by Mr. Tan, it is a unique and exclusive NFT on the Ethereum Blockchain. Mr. Tan created this art piece prior to working for DC Comics and Marvel Comics.
